How to Put Parental Controls on an iPhone?

Parental Controls on an iPhone

The iPhone provides a plethora of amazing features and it’s difficult for immature brains to handle such advanced functionality. Here, the need for Parental Control setups arises.

Now, let’s get into setting up Parental Control on an iPhone:

  1. Set up Family Sharing

To initiate customizing parental control, you first need to set up Family Sharing.

That’s how it is done:

  • Open the iPhone device.

  • Go to settings >> Apple ID profile picture >> Family Sharing >>  Continue

  • Now, tap on Invite Others to invite up to 5 family members.

  1. Set Up Screen Time

With this setup, you can limit the screen timing of your kids and analyze how much time they are spending on their devices.

Next, let’s dive to the steps:

  • Go to Settings >> Screen Time >> Turn on Screen Time.

  • Select This is My Child's iPhone.

  • Create a Screen Time Password

  • Navigate to Content & Privacy Restrictions, and switch on the toggle.

  1. Manage iTunes and App Store Purchases

To disable in-app purchases, perform the following:

  • Tap on settings >> Screen Time.

  • Go to Content & Privacy Restrictions, and enter your screen time passcode

  • Select iTunes and Apps Store Purchases

  • In the section Store Purchases and Redownloads, turn all the toggles to Don’t Allow.

  1. Set Downtime

The downtime feature allows you to block apps and notifications for a period you want your kids to get detached from their iPhones.

To set up it on your kids’ iPhone device:

  • Go to screen time >> downtime

  • Next, choose either Turn on Downtime Until Schedule or Scheduled to set specific downtime hours.

  1. Prevent Inappropriate Content

With the help of this mode, you can limit kids’ access to inappropriate content.

Here’s what you have to do:

  • From Content & Privacy Restrictions, choose Content Restrictions >> Allowed Store Content.

Now, you can make changes as preferable to your kids’ age.

  1. Set Game Center

You can also manage your kids’ gaming console and select the types of play zones they can enter.

You can set up it in this way:

  • Go to Settings >> Screen Time.

  • Now, enter the passcode to open Content & Privacy Restrictions

  • Tap on Content Restrictions >> Game Center >> Configure options.

As you perfectly implemented all the setups, you can now take a sigh of relief knowing your kids are having a positive user experience with their iPhone devices.

Wrapping Up

Nowadays, kids are smarter than we think, and they will somehow find a way to disable all your setups.

Therefore, apart from restricting and limiting, the most effective way is to have a clear and open conversation with kids.

In this way, you can make them understand your concern for them and the importance of setting up Parental Control.
